Masaryk university was established in 1919. Today it is the second largest university in Czech Republic with 9 faculties and over 30 000 students in all types of studies. In last two years it has the greatest number of applicants among all universities in Czech Republic.

Faculty of Economy and Administration was founded in 1990 as the sixth faculty. It is divided into seven departments (Economy, Public economy, Finances, Economy of regions, Management, Applied mathematics and informatics, Law). In 10 programmes study more than 3000 active students who can end up with either Bachelor's or Master's or Post-graduate degree. Students can choose between face-to-face or distance learning.

E-learning at ESF

In last six years we have been focused on e-learning, primarily used in distance learning. We have developed our own LMS system called "Studium On-Line" ("Study On-Line") which now handles over 130 courses at different levels. This learning method is officially supported throughout the university.

Our most innovative progress is a videoconferencing solution of lessons for distance students. We decided to experiment with Aethra videoconferencing equipment which is capable to broadcast superior quality video. We are now in the final phase of developing recording and storage solution to include it in our LMS environment. The final stage is to deliver online and offline video material to our students.
